Step One

Do you plan to use your stone for cooking or baking? If you answer yes, you must temper the stone before using for the first time. Place the stone in an oven. Turn oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit, and bake stone for 1 1/2 hours. Use right away or allow to cool. Do not skip this step. This is very important, as the stone has not experienced heat before.

Searing

Place stone on a burner grate and turn on low heat for 10 minutes, increase heat to medium for 10 minutes.

Presentation

Smear a little bit of extra virgin olive oil or flavored oil (like truffle or walnut) before placing food on the salt. This will prevent the food from becoming too salty very quickly. Eat right after plating; do not use for buffet presentations.

Frozen Treats

Keep a block in the freezer so its always ready to go!

Keep your Refrigerator Fresh

Put a small block in your refrigerator to purify the air and naturally remove odors.

Cleaning your stones

There are many ways to clean your Himalayan Salt Stones.
  • DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER!!!
  • You can scrub lightly with a wet scrubby sponge.
  • Wipe clean with a wet towel using tongs while the stone is hot.
  • When the stone is room temperature, sand with coarse sandpaper as necessary.
